When several doulas share the care of one postpartum family, Cradled lets you build a care team for that client and then schedule their shifts, including overnights that run past midnight. This is how you cover a family who needs support night after night without any one doula carrying every night herself.
Where these live
Care teams and shifts show up on postpartum clients when you're working in a collective. Open the client, and you'll see two extra tabs:
- Care Team: who's assigned to this family.
- Shifts: when each of them is on.
If you don't see these tabs, the client isn't marked postpartum yet, or you're not in collective mode.
Step 1: build the care team
- Open the postpartum client.
- Go to the Care Team tab.
- Add a doula from your collective, and set her role:
- Member: a doula on the rotation.
- Lead: the point person for this family.
- Repeat until everyone who covers this family is on the team.
Only doulas already in your collective can be added to a care team. Add them to the collective first under Members if they're not there yet.
Step 2: schedule the shifts
Switch to the Shifts tab. You can schedule two ways:
- Recurring: pick the weekdays, the start and end time, and a date range, plus a default doula. Cradled generates a shift for every matching night. You can then adjust who's on each individual night, so three doulas can rotate across the week instead of one doula taking every Tuesday.
- One shift: a single date, time, and doula, for irregular weeks or a one-off fill-in.
Rotating doulas night to night
The whole point of a care team is that no single doula is pinned to a fixed night. After you generate a recurring block, walk through the nights and set the doula on each one. That's how you spread a week of overnights across two or three people.
Reassigning or cancelling a shift
Plans change. On the Shifts tab, tap any shift in the roster to:
- Reassign it to a different doula on the team, or
- Cancel it entirely.
Who sees what
- The owner sees every doula's shifts on the team schedule board at Team, then Schedule, with both a Day and a Week view. Book on a doula's behalf and scan the whole team's coverage from one board.
- Each doula sees the nights she's on under My shifts in the Cradled mobile app, so she always knows when she's expected.
