Photos in messages are a common ask from LCs and doulas — a quick latch shot or a "does this look normal" rash photo unblocks a question that text alone can't answer.
How mom sends one
In her message thread with you, she taps the photo icon by the input and picks an image from her library. It uploads to Cradled's private storage and appears inline in the thread.
Where photos live
In a private Supabase Storage bucket, row-level security applied. Only the three conversation members (mom, partner if connected, you) can read the file. Cradled staff cannot view photos.
There is no public URL. The image is fetched through an authenticated, signed link that expires.
Where you view them
In your thread with her — inline, full-width. Tap to expand to a full-screen viewer. You can long-press to save to your device if you need to attach it to her client file outside Cradled.
Sending photos from you to her
From the web inbox or the mobile app, click the attachment icon in the compose bar. Same flow.
Limits
- On the web dashboard, images are capped at 2 MB each.
- JPEG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC are accepted. On mobile, images are resized (and HEIC converted to JPEG) on upload; a HEIC uploaded from the web keeps its original format.
- No videos in v1.
Privacy notes
- Photos are part of the message thread record and persist for the lifetime of the conversation.
- If a client deletes her Cradled account, her data — including message photos — is removed as part of account deletion.
