Cradled rate-limits outgoing invoice and contract emails to protect deliverability. Most CPs never hit the limit in normal practice — but if you're onboarding a wave of clients or catching up after time off, you might.
Current limits
- 100 emails per day per CP account.
- 500 emails per 7-day rolling window per CP account.
These include invoice emails, contract emails, and resends.
What happens when you hit the limit
The send action fails with a "Rate limit reached" message. The invoice or contract stays in its current state (draft or sent); nothing is lost.
Workarounds
- Copy the link and send via your own email client. The payment/signing link is identical whether you email through Cradled or paste into Gmail.
- Wait it out. The daily cap is a rolling 24-hour window — it frees up gradually as your earlier sends pass the 24-hour mark, not all at once at midnight.
- Batch differently. Send in smaller clusters spread across days rather than all at once.
When the limits change
We adjust these caps based on overall system deliverability. If we change the numbers, this article will reflect the current values.
