A payment plan paused (card declined)

What happens when an auto-charge fails, and how to get the plan running again.

Auto-charge payment plans charge a saved card automatically. When a card declines, Cradled handles it gracefully — but a repeatedly failing card will pause the plan until you step in.

What Cradled does on a failed charge

  • It retries the next day, then again three days later.
  • After a third failed attempt, the plan pauses so the client isn't charged over and over.
  • You get a notification on every failed attempt and when the plan pauses.

How to get it running again

  1. In the client's Auto-charge panel, click Send new card request. The client gets a secure link to add a working card.
  2. Once they've added one, click Resume with latest card.

Cradled picks up where it left off, charging the client's newest card on file. You don't need to recreate the plan.
