Log a birth

Record birth outcomes — delivery type, interventions, location, experience. Feeds your analytics.

When a client gives birth, you can log the details in Cradled. This both transitions them from prenatal to postpartum and populates your birth outcomes analytics.

Where to log a birth

Birth logging happens in the Cradled mobile app (the care-provider side), not the web dashboard. Open the client in the app and record the birth there. The web dashboard is where you review the results — there's no "Log birth" button on the web client page.

You can log births for managed clients too — useful for backfilling clients you worked with before Cradled.

Fields

  • Date and time of birth
  • Delivery type — vaginal, caesarean, VBAC, etc.
  • Location — home, hospital, birth center, other.
  • Interventions — epidural, induction, episiotomy, forceps, vacuum, etc. (multi-select).
  • Labour duration — total hours.
  • Support present — who was there (partner, doula, family).
  • Experience rating — the client's (or your) subjective rating of the experience, 1–5.
  • Private notes — your internal observations about the birth.

What happens when you log

  • The client moves from Prenatal or Due Soon to Postpartum.
  • On connected clients, postpartum content unlocks in their mobile app.
  • The birth appears in your Reports → Births tab.
  • Your practice's birth analytics update — rates by delivery type, common interventions, experience correlations.

Backfilling past births

You can log a birth for any client, including managed clients you added retroactively. The birth date doesn't have to be today — log whatever the actual date was.

Editing a birth record

Edit a birth record from the client in the mobile app. Edits update your web reports immediately.
